Prayers for the Tree of Life Congregation Synagogue in Pittsburgh, that the Lord be with them during this awful time after Saturday's shootings.

Lord, call home to Yourself those who were killed and comfort their surviving family, friends and congregation members.

Lord, please root out all such evil in the world!

Lord, have mercy!

Mourners' Kaddish

Glorified and sanctified be God's great name throughout the world
which He has created according to His will.
May He establish His kingdom in your lifetime and during your days,
and within the life of the entire House of Israel, speedily and soon;
and say, Amen.

May His great name be blessed forever and to all eternity.
Blessed and praised, glorified and exalted, extolled and honored,
adored and lauded be the name of the Holy One, blessed be He,
beyond all the blessings and hymns, praises and consolations that
are ever spoken in the world; and say, Amen.

May there be abundant peace from heaven, and life, for us
and for all Israel; and say, Amen.

He who creates peace in His celestial heights,
may He create peace for us and for all Israel;
and say, Amen.

I became acquainted with this prayer four decades ago when I was tying down a shift on a long defunct radio station which broadcast the Friday evening Shabbat service from a Synagogue.

It is beautiful prayer--much more eloquent in Hebrew (the language in which I heard it) than in English. And there is no reason why any Christian of good will could not affirm it with the word which transcends many languages,

"Amen".

I listened to the descriptions of those who died, their ages, their relationships, what they did, etc. - imagine, a married couple in their mid 80's, a woman of 97, two brothers in their 50s and 60s.... faithful members of the group who came to pray weekly. A doctor, a retired professor, etc. etc.
Thank you very much for posting the Kaddish above. It is noted for its praise of God as the theme.
Continued prayers.

Praying for the peace and repose of the souls of the deceased and may our Lord send His comforting Holy Spirit to the survivors of this attack.
Lord have mercy!
