Here are a few links about the last Emperor of the Romans, Blessed Constantine XI Palelogos:

It is also said that he died in Communion with Rome. He received Communion from Cardinal Isidore, Metropolitan of Kyiv, who was also in Communion with Rome.

During the seige, East and West worshipped together, fought together, and died together.

Are we not now under seige from forces that are out to destroy us?

Dear Dr. Eric,

Thank you for the web site concerning Emporor Constantine Paleologus XI. I had heard about the legends, etc., and it was nice to have them clarified.

I do know that for six months the Greeks in the city would not step into Aghia Sophia. Beware anyone that does not step into a Church for six months, no matter what the reason. Well, at least that is how I see it.

Actually, I recall an English historian that said there was a certain monk that was considered a saint by the people. He said that if the Greeks unite with the RCC, that the city would be taken by the Turks.

Now this historian said that he found it shocking and unbelievable, because the same monk in Italy was telling the Italians that they must unite with the Greeks. An opportunist... Perhaps? More than likely though he was demonic. eek

The people ran to him for advice...and so on and so forth. Kind of reminds me of Rasputin. Well no matter, it seems his influence was so great that even after the city was taken, many said it was their punishment for attending the Council of Florence.

Now I'm reminded of another prophecy, and it concerns the Russians. At one time in old Byzantium, a monk said to someone, "do you see that tribe in the North called the 'Rus'. Well in the last days, Constantinople will be theirs." I guess that's why the Russians were always so insistant on acquiring Constantinople...and then again, the web site didn't mention that the new King Constantine's that would take back Constantinople would have six toes. It seems that every King Constantine was known to have six toes. Can one wonder why the Greek kings were names Constantine so readily? wink

Actually had England taken the city in the First World War, it would have eventually become Greek because the majority of the population was Greek. Unless of course, it ended up like Cyrpus, divided for who knows how many decades.

Well Churchilll didn't manage it. frown Constantinople was lost to England because of the weather, and he lost the admiralty...not to mention the losses at Gallipoli was probably one of the reasons for the break-up of the British Empire.

So considering the wars, is there any wonder then that the Christians were ethnically cleansed from Constantinople in the 1950's and 1960's? Funny how the Muslims can always get away with it, but no one else can? confused

Well if that prophecy about Russia taking over Constantinople is true, then it seems that there has to be some basis for it other than conquest, since I can't see all the Turks being thrown into the sea. Maybe the Patriarchate will fall under Russia, and/or maybe the Turks will convert. Well we can always wish, can't we. wink

Zenovia
