...celibacy was forced on Byzantine clergy here in the US.

I think I know what you are referring to, but you misphrased it.

Yeah, if celibacy were enforced on the already-married Greek Catholic clergy, there would have been a revolt.

Hey, Alex, how do you say "pissed Panis" in Ukrainian?

Blessings! (With tongue firmly in cheek!!)

Dear Eumz,

This is Rose from the cinchar list. You haven't hurt any ones feelings, I apologize for having offended you, and you are very welcomed on the forum. You continue being who you are in Jesus Christ, and don't let the words of this world sway you. Jesus is the Word that matters!

You might want to explore the rest of the forum, to find discussions on the Church. I also think everyone here would reccomend that you read the Early Church Fathers. Just plug it into a search engine. Start with St.John Chrysostom, his homilies on baptism or his homily for the Pasch. Or St. Basil the Great since we celebrate their liturgies. If you have questions as you are reading them, come to the forum and asked them. There are so many people on the list, with such a deep understanding of the spirituality. Everyone will be glad to help.

There are just some areas that are a bit controversial, and everyone has their own opinion.
This is really the teens page and there are a lot of adults on here(I am one)who express themselves rather strongly.

You keep looking and exploring, Jesus will get you where he wants you to be.

Rose

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,

Hey guys! The great fast (lent) is fast approaching and I was wondering how do the eastern rite/tradition observe the sacrifice of fasting, I heard that it is much stricter in the sense compared to the roman rite.

Slowly, through the help of you guys (especially the forum in EWTN) I have been integrating little practices of the eastern rite, like doing the sign of the cross (from the right to left) and at times I found my self praying "the trisagion prayers" and memorizing the Nicene Creed as to the Apostles creed.

As early as now I can say that I LOVE the eastern traditions, but still searching some eastern Catholics here.

Thanks in Christ..... eumir

Slava Isusu Chrystu!

It's a great joy for me to be enlightened by the Holy Spirit to discover that there are many ways God has revealed Himself in different tradition.

Yesterday, a miracle happened. I was one of the many St. Pauls religious store, when I noticed that one of the customer is wearing a three bar cross. So I approached him immediately and introduced my self and inquired from him the church to which they go. He is a monk – deacon. As I discover it that the annunciation orthodox church is about 30 min. from my home, so near!!!

I trying to get in touch with the priest so I could join them this Sunday for divine liturgy.

God is so good. I have been searching for any eastern tradition churches in the Philippines for about a year now but unfortunately I could not find one. Until that miraculous event.

But still I will preserve my allegiance to our His Holiness John Paul II the apostle of unity. Being born a Catholic in the roman rite I have this love to the Pope of Rome and instill in me of his true apostolic succession of the chair of St. Peter.

Glory to Him for ever!

Hi. There ARE ByzanTEENs! I'm a 17 year old girl from the Pittsburgh area, and the last time I checked, I existed. At least I think so, could be wrong... smile
I'm not some kind of religious fanatic, I'm actually pretty much the opposite. A typical teen who is unsure of her religion and lacking in faith. I came here to find out what it's all about, what I'm supposed to be believing in. Searching for a reason. Sometimes I'm not even sure if I believe in God. It's hard to admit that, but there are definately other teens out there in the same position as me. Don't throw all that faith and religion stuff at me. Please. It's been forced on me relentlessly my whole life. I'm just trying to figure out what I'm looking for. Is there anyone out there who knows how I feel?

Yes, there are a few of us, cHiLD -- meaning young Eastern Catholics. Life is sometimes difficult. Sometimes hard to figure things out. No one can force faith on to you.
