Joe,
You and your wife will be in my prayers today.

My mother was diagnosed with breast cancer 5 years ago and through her treatment she prayed to St. Terese. My mother is now in full remission and continues to pray to St Terese daily.
I will ask my mum to include you both in her prayers today.

I am simply overwhelmed to tears at the outpouring of love and prayers from all of you. God bless and keep you all in good health and many years to all of you.
Catherine has completed all her tests and is now awaiting the judgement of her physician(s) as to how best to attack this insidiuos disease. I will keep you all informed as we go through the numerous treatments that lie ahead. I will not forget all the love that is shown not just for my wife but for me as well.

I pray to St. Panteliemon, the all-Merciful, a 3rd century Saint of the Church. He was born in A.D. 275 in Nikomedia, Asia Minor of a pagan father and Christian mother. Panteliemon gained importance as a foremost physician of the entire know world. He was 29 when he died a martyrs death. His service to mankind included many times giving away free medical help to those most in need. Panteliemon came to be known more as a man of God than a man of science which brought wrath and cruel action by the emperor. Panteleimon was offered the ultimate choice between Christ and the Idols. Not all of Panteliemon's tortures are known. History tells us that this honorable doctor and noble Christian was stretched across a rack and burned by candles. He was cast into a fiery pit and into a den of beasts. When he survived, the pagans were convinced he had the protection of socery. It was decided he would be cast into a deep river with a huge stone bound to his body. When the stone proved buoyant, he was beheaded. It is said that milk flowed from the severed head of the martyr on 27 July 304.

Chosen passion-bearer of Christ and gracious healer, who freely grantest healing to the sick, we praise thee in songs as our protector.

Dearest JoeS,

Go to this link and you will find a newly evolving shrine of St. Panteleimon at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Orthodox Church (OCA) in Masontown, Pennsylvania. They pray an Akathist to the saint once a month and take prayer requests. I donated a small sum of money there and received, in return, the nicest hand written letter from the priest.

Joe,

My prayers for Catherine, that the physicians will be guided to select the most efficacious treatment for her disease and that she will benefit greatly from it with as little discomfort as possible.

Several years after our divorce, my former wife and still friend, the mother of my three oldest children, was diagnosed with a particularly rare and virulent form of breast cancer. Her prospects for survival to five years were abysmally small (<20%), even with very aggressive treatment that included surgery, chemo, and radiation. She persued all of the available options and we all prayed long and hard. At the time, our youngest daughter was in 8th grade and Cyndie's dearest hope was to see her graduate from high school; two weeks ago, she helped Betsy unpack as she entered vet school. We'll pray, as we did back then, that Catherine's course is positive in outcome.

Holy Saints Luke, Cosmas, and Damien patrons of physicians and all who practice the healing arts under the Divine Guidance of the Great Physician, guide Catherine's physicians in making recommendations to her to arrest and rid her of this disease that has attacked her. Saint Peregrine, patron against cancer, intercede before the Holy Throne that the results of Catherine's treatment be positive and beneficial to her temporal and spiritual being.

Saint Joseph stand by your namesake, our friend and brother Joe, and strengthen him through this time of stress. Help him to be the support to Catherine that you were to the Holy Theotokos, and preserve his health and mental well-being that he may be better able to provide Catherine with whatever she needs in terms of physical, moral, spiritual, and emotional assistance, to get through this crisis.

Many years,

Neil
