No, Roger, your posts have all been respectful. I hope mine did not come off as confrontational; that surely was not my intention. And I didn't intend to stir up anything but a dialogue; you seem like an open-minded sort. I wasn't thinking about how outnumbered you'd feel in any ensuing conversation; I certainly wouldn't want to be the sole defender of Catholicism on a Protestant site! I do have, in spite of the theological gulf between us, a certain affection for Irish Protestants, based on my own Ulster ancestry... I'm glad you've met with kindness here. Now if you were a curious Roman Catholic....

No problems here.
As I mentioned I moderate on two Baptist Boards and am extra sensitive because it is an irritant when people come in to "sort us out". Honest inquiry is welcome in those boards as well.
We were not going to reach a consensus on sola scriptura so I just thought it best to leave it.

Pastor Roger, I wasn't sure whether the above meant you were leaving us. So glad you are still aboard. Blessings.. Mary Jo..RC leaning BC who has also received much kindness here and questions answered.

I have always found that my Baptist upbringing takes me a long way in the Catholic Church. Although as a young person, I never knew anything about Sola Scriptura...my age is showing ...I do know that the Scripture I learned as a child and young adult has always been a shelter for me. And as I prepared to enter the Byzantine Catholic Church, he brought those Scriptures quickly to mind to teach me about what he was doing for me, and where he was taking us. I know this is also true of so many Catholics too. I find it humorus( I mean in a loving sence) though that after using the Jerusalem Bible for 25 years the Scriptures quickly come to mind in the old King James style. I had a very hard time remebering verse and chapter, but the Words are life themself. It is so important to remember in the Celebration of the Divine Liturgy there are two parts, celebration of the Word and celebration of the Eucharist. In each part total attention is paid to what is at hand, each one brings life to the soul, both bring the peace and joy of knowing Jesus Christ as our Lord and Saviour. However, in celebrating both the Word and the Eucharist, we have the fullness of the truth of Christ. He said he would never leave us orpan and he didn't, in both we find the comfort of knowing that Christ is present to us in his Flesh and Blood as he is in his Word as the Word Incarnate. Pani Rose

Roger- Could you provide links to your Baptist boards? I promise that if I visit I will be as respectful as you have been here. Thanks. -Daniel
