Dear Friends, It is said that Saint Teresa was thrown into the mud by her horse as she was crossing a river. She then rose up and looked toward heaven, saying, "Lord, if this is how you treat your friends, no wonder you have so few of them!" There's also another anecdote of St. Teresa of Avila that I was told by a Priest all the way there in Spain. It is well known that St. Teresa used to pray and be in touch with God all the time, well, once St Teresa was relieving her body at the bathroom, and as usual she was praying. Suddenly then the Demon appeared laughing and told her "Even NOW doing this you pray?" and she replied to him "Of course, what comes from my heart through my mouth is for our Lord, and what comes from beneath me is for you"

Alex & Alice, +May the LORD bless you! I LOVE St. Teresa of Avila...and always have. Talk about a strong and spiritual woman...WOW! I'm reading her writings now...translated from the Spanish...and they are incredible! Mother Angelica of EWTN is rather like her. Reading her writings also reminds me of one of Pope John Paul's favorite admonitions: BE NOT AFRAID! Thank God for such great and holy women!
