Carole,
Unfortunately I for one cannot congratulate you.
I think you are making a big mistake.
i will however pray for God's enlightenment in your lives.

That's okay. I wasn't asking for congratulations nor was I expecting them. I'm not doing this to gain the approval of anyone. I know that a lot of people will be:

* Offended
* Upset
* Angry
* Worried

I get it. But ultimately I feel that we would be making a larger mistake to continue to live a lie by appearing to adhere to and believe teachings that we simply do not believe to be true or correct.

Thank you for your honesty and your prayers. We can never have too many people praying for us.

In Christ,
Carole

I certainly profess all that the Catholic Church teaches, and proudly so.

Carole,
I have a proverbial sign I'm holding up that reads
"Go Carole"
Don't feel like you are alone in the wilderness, because there are plenty of us that have been in the same woods you are right now only to find that we weren't alone.

I treasure my Catholic heritage and tradition while being quite happy as an Orthodox Christian!

Indeed I publically did renounce certain Catholic beliefs, renouncing the Catholic dogma of papal supremacy/infallibilty was one of them. So during the initiation, each person renounced certain things according to where he was coming into Orthodoxy from.

So Alex, nothing to say or add or argue about what you posted earlier? I'm waiting to see how you back up your statement, but you haven't stepped up to the plate. Please, feel free to do so, as we are waiting for your explanation.

This is not my original thought, but I think it may apply to this as well as to many other discussions on this and other forums--and I paraphrase, to boot, ---On the day of the final judgement, will God ask us "Have you been a good Catholic?" or "Have you been a good Orthodox?" Or will he ask us something more akin to "How have you loved Me, and Me through your neighbor?"

I know that may seem to over-simplify things a little bit, but a little simplicity can go a long, long way sometimes, eh? smile

And may God bless all who find their way to Him through *either* lung of His Church!

CHRISTOS VOSKRESE!

But we (me, hubby and dd) are planning to seek to be received into Holy Orthodoxy. We do not yet know what the process will entail for us - but we will be having the priest to our home in the next couple of weeks to discuss it.

I suppose there is always the possibility he will tell us that we're doing it for the wrong reasons and that we should stay where we are. Which is why I say it is not official.

But after two years of prayer and contemplation of the matter we feel that we are being called to move toward embracing Holy Orthodoxy.

And for those who wonder - this has nothing whatever to do with the RDL. I believe that, for us, it is simply a matter of taking the step that has been coming since my first question about Eastern Catholicism was answered with a suggestion to read an Orthodox book. Before I knew of any plans for a RDL. Before I could even have understood what that might mean.

It also has nothing to do with shortcomings in the Catholic Church or a desire to find a "perfect" place.

In short we're not running away from anything but we're moving carefully and deliberately toward the place that we believe God intends us to be.

Blessings,

Carole

Carole,

May I suggest you make an appointment with Fr. Frank and spend some time with him.
