Orthodox in Communion with Rome is an accurate construct for the Byzantine Catholic Churches.

Glory to Jesus Christ!

How can one be "Orthodox in Communion with Rome" if one isn't in communion with Orthodoxy? "Orthodox not in communion with Orthodoxy" is an oxymoron, no? Just some thoughts. God Bless!

Nik,

Communion with the Successor of Peter is the crown of Orthodoxy. This is something most Orthodox are lacking.

When I went to vote, I saw this as the "No" choice:

"No, this does not reflect the status of the BC churches"

Seeing the choices, I had to vote no. Of course, one could easily say that since I have virtually no experience with the BC Churches, I may not know what I'm talking about. But from all I've read, and all I've learned here, I don't think one can say that the status of the BC Churches is "Orthodox in Communion with Rome".

I voted no, for similar reasons as Nik. However, I see it redundant: it's like saying "Orthodoxy in communion with Orthodoxy" (Catholicism being Orthodoxy, obviously). To say "Orthodox in Communion with Rome" implies that Rome is unorthodox, and from the Byzantine Catholic perspective, and every Catholic perspective for that matter, Rome is orthodox.

"Crown of Orthodoxy" I don't necessarily agree with, Administrator. The crown of orthodoxy resides with all bishops who profess the orthodox catholic faith.

What I would say is that communion with the successor of Peter makes us and the Church truly "catholic" (in the universal sense).

I was never comfortable using this tern as a Byzantine Catholic and I tend to agree with a friend's position that it can be as offensive to the Orthodox as "Uniate" is offensive to Eastern Catholics though of course, not as perjorative.
There does have to be Communion with the Orthodox to really be Orthodox. I came to that realization after many years.

Not really. After all, Eastern Orthodox have not been in communion with Oriental Orthodox for some time. Moreover, even within canonical Eastern Orthodoxy there are certain juridictions that are not in communion with others.

Dear Friends,

I voted no. I have not thought of myself as "Orthodox" for even one day of my life.

But my faith in Christ's One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church has always been. I just wish the Hierarchs would stop bickering over turf and firing canons.

I have no issues regarding validity or merits of the Orthodox Churches, but I respect their claim to the title "Orthodox" and never use it myself.

Have a Blessed Day !!!
