That is nice, it's an actual picture of Sts V & O too. I did not know that site existed. I believe Krylos Leader belongs to that parish.

XPUCTOC BOCKPEC!

Indeed this is my parish and we are, in all humility, very proud of it. Glad you like the website.

Yours,

I think that it is important to have an inviting website for the local parish or mission no matter how small or large the congregation is.

Inquirers into Byzantine spirituality and worship need to be able to "tap-in" to a web site for current information and encouragement.

People can also get a hint of what to expect and frame their questions to the point where they become comfortable and feel welcome.

This is a big step in the right direction for Chicagoland because most of the Eastern congregations in that area will be listed somewhere but not have a decent web page to view.

My compliments to the designer.

Am I the only here who sees the website only in Ukrainian??? I can't read a dang thing. Wish I could, I've visited the site many times just to look at the picture.

Dear Coalesco, that is a good point. Often now people surf to find parishes or if they are traveling will search for places to visit. It really is advantageous to have a web page to advertise the parish.

This is a very nice site (the old site did need some updating) smile . The choir only gets better every time I hear them. May God bless His servants the Archpriest Ivan and all of the parishoners at V&O. Thank God that Patriarch Josyp had the foresight and wisdom to bless the foundation of this parish. Wonderful music, KL. If we only lived closer...

As I recall, was this not the a parish that was specifically created for thus Ukrainian Catholic's of Chicago who preffered the Julian calendar to the Gregorian?

It certainly is a magnificent parish. I guess that somethibng good did come from the new calendar after all!

In Christ,

Yes it is. Also, our parish is very Eastern and very orthodox in tradition because of our influence from the time when we had to have services with our orthodox brothers at st. Volodymyr Ukr. Orth. cathedral while our church was under construction. It was cool. I have been told that many services were celebrated together. Especially at Holy weeek. Holy Friday Services, blessing of baskets and paschal matins were all celebrated together.
Also, Patriarch Josyf gave us a true vison of an independant church. Thanks for the compliments.

By the Way, there isn't an Ukrainian version of the site yet.

Sts. V & O is one of the most beautiful Byzantine Churches in the USA! I've gone there couple times already. I felt like I was in heaven!

Although I'm profoundly Deaf, I don't understand Ukrainian, but I understood what was going on in the Divine Liturgy.

It is so profoundly beautiful. Let this parish be a model for all of us to retain Orthodoxy in our Byz. Catholic Churches.

My priest said that if we have the money we'd have a parish like this! As Orthodox as it can be! Except we won't be too "ethnic" as everybody is welcome and it'll be in English.

Anyway, may God grant the parishioners many years.

PS Our mission is in Wichita, KS, "Holy Apostles Byzantine Catholif Fellowship" and it is under the Eparchy of St. Nicholas, which by the way, I'm so delighted we have a new bishop, finally!!!

Our Parish does welcome everyone. We do have services in English on a need basis.

The reason that our services are only in Ukrainian is that most people that go there (like 95%) speak and or understand Ukrainian.
Also many new immigrants go there so english isnt really practical at our parish.

Another reason is that the tendancy of the loss of Ukrainain language in Chicago is really rare. The community is very tied to its traditions and language.

i bet if we were in any other city or town in the US, we'd have an English liturgy.

His name is Msgr. Richard Stefan Seminack and is a pastor out in Carnegie, Pa.
