BOB, I agree. But, some parishes just don't have the money. Whether those parishes should be kept open or combined with others, is another question . . .

I wonder what Father does when certain Feasts fall during the week.

12 Great Feasts equal a standard two weeks vacation.

A self employed priest could make his own schedule, but most employers don't want people taking off all the time. I could see if there is some PTO built into the employment agreement, but what about funerals? The Baby Boomers are getting older and older and people are going to be dying in larger numbers and in greater frequency.
