It would appear that not only does "reverence" win but that it also helps to ordain married men to the Priesthood...of course, the Ruthenian Gk. Cath. Bishops here in the States are not (yet) "on board" with that...alas.

With regard to the one in Latin, at Brompton Oratory in London, I was amused when an American couple came in and listened for a while. The wife turned to her husband and whispered, "It's so nice to hear the old Mass being celebrated again". Which confirmed most of what I already suspected about adherents of the Tridentine Rite.

As for the Tridentine, Taft is absolutely correct in his critique--by the standards established by Sacrosanctum concilium, it's bad liturgy, and there is nothing that could be done to it, short of transforming it into something else, that would make it into good liturgy.

One forgets today that sixty or seventy years ago, the Orthodox were complaining about the Tridentine rite because of its departures from the authentic liturgical tradition. So I guess there is no pleasing some people--or put another way, some people will latch onto any cause for complaint if it suits their long-term objectives.

Stuart,

Are there any parishes in the DC area that does the NO/Ordinary Form correctly according to the rubrics?

Kyrie eleison,

Manuel

ITs interesting, I've been to churches all through the Archdiocese of Detroit and have yet to find one church that practices the liturgy exactly according to rubrics. Someone please tell me where to find one!?

Scotty,

You could also check out Assumption Grotto. I've heard that it is quite amazing, liturgically speaking.

Forgive the lateness of my response due to my travels on business. For a parish in Northern Virginia that celebrates the Novus Ordo in accordance with the Rubrics (and occasionally in Latin), try St. Catherine of Siena in Great Falls--though I have not been there in several years, and cannot vouch for what they are doing today.
