Christ is risen!

I have the privilege of being in the vicinity of Chevetogne Abbey and would love to visit there. However, given that it’s in a more rural area of Belgium, I can’t quite figure out the best way to and from the monastery.

Has anyone here had the opportunity to visit before and could offer some suggestions for the best transportation options?

Thank you

Christ is in our midst!!

Hookly,

Welcome to the forum. We hope your time with us is spiritually enriching.

Sadly, an Orthodox monk who has visited that monastery is no longer with us. Maybe some other member can help.

Indeed, He has risen!

I know a monk at that monastery.
If you would provide me with your email, I can put you in touch..

I see that your query was your first post here.
As you may not yet have private messaging privileges and as you may not wish to expose your email to the world, perhaps if you give your location, I can take it from there.
I take it you do not have a car.

Thank you very much, yes I am new to using this site as a member so I’m just figuring things out as I go along. I don’t know the extent of my privileges yet, or how to check them, so I appreciate your being very helpful

I’m an American pilgrim in Europe over the next week. I do not have a car, and neither do I have hard commitments while in Europe so I’m pretty flexible. I was able to get enough info from the monastery to know service times and that their reservation system shows the monastery booked up over the next week. I was thinking of staying in a nearby town, but just needed to figure out how to best get to and from the monastery, whether for morning or evening services

I thought I had posted this yesterday...

... the town of Chevetogne has a bus connection to Ciney and one can travel between Ciney & Brussels by train.

otherwise

the nearby town of Haversin is accessible by train.

Thank you so much for your help. Unfortunately, it looks like it may not work out since I had hoped to be there for ascension but it looks like the bus doesn’t run late enough for vigil and won’t run on ascension day, as it’s a holiday.

Still appreciate all the help and I pray that I’ll make it there one day
