Dear Der-Ghazarian,

Thank you for your kindness and I will be MOST happy to pay you for the Armenian Book of Hours and for your trouble!

Please contact me at: alex_roman@ontla.ola.org or else I'll contact you at your most excellent site!

Also, do the Armenians have prayer beads? I mean not Rosaries, but something that is part of the actual Armenian heritage?

God bless,

Alex

Dear Lance,

Yes, I've seen that icon and I believe it is a Byzantinized remake of the Divine Mercy picture.

For me, our liturgical tradition is just so filled with references to the Wounded Side of Christ, the Blood and the Water flowing from it signifying forgiveness and mercy that the Latin Divine Mercy revelations are like other Western definitions - affirmations of what we have always believed and celebrated!

Alex

Dear Alex,

No need for money. Consider it a gift and token of my appreciation for your efforts in this forum. Thanks for the compliment on the site. Your opinion has great weight with me. Actually, if you'd like to wet your whistle, I have some excerpts from the Book of Hours on one my pages. The "Hymn of the Days of Creation" are beuatiful daily prayers composed by one of our greatest Church Fathers, St. Nersess the Graceful. You can find them at this link:

Lastly, I know of no tradition of prayer beeds in our Church. I am still far from an expert on the Armenian tradition though, so it doesn't mean they don't exist. I just have never seen them. Talk to you soon.

In Christ's Light,

Wm. Der Ghazarian

p.s. Djs: you got it. That's the melody that goes with the words of the "Soorp Asdvadz."
