Dear Alex,

Many points, in abundance.

For the liturgical trivialists, there was a wonderful Latin Rubric in the old Latin Missal, that set forth specific instructions, in the case of a fly falling into the chalice.

It instructed that the poor offending fly be stabbed with the maniple pin, and then held in the flame of the candle, until it was dust...

The moral of the story is...

Elias

...but, that was gravely off topic.

Bless me a sinner, Hieromonk Elias!

Not wishing to be a fly in the ointment here . . .

It is amazing how those Latin brothers of ours (don't you just love them?) exceed us in their attention to fine detail.

I noticed this in my hagiographical studies when a number of Latin martyrs in Rome not only had specific details outlined in the calendar, but also the name of the street on which they died!

Kissing your right hand, I again implore your blessing,

Alex

Fr Elias,
Going off topic with an anecdote like that is , to my mind, perfectly permissable. Thank you - though I do feel a little sorry for the fly.

Dear Friends,

Do you suppose this explains the hymn, "I'll Fly Away?" biggrin

Dear Mark,

I don't know, but St Francis may just show up to teach you how to spell the name of his town properly!

Alex
