Dear Servant of the Lord, Don
Thank you for that information and Happy Thanksgiving to you!
My most favourite city is New Orleans and I know that St Rose was there as her image is at the old Ursuline Convent.
Our family has always had a devotion for St Roch of Montpellier, the patron against cholera and other pestilential disease ("Eris in peste patronum" our Lord told Roch before he died).
My father was nearly dead from the cholera when a neighbour told my grandparents about St Roch and so they all knelt down beside him to pray. After about thirty minutes of prayer, dad's body began to warm again.
New Orleans also has a miraculous Shrine to St Roch at the Campo Santo where many people leave "body part" images to thank Roch for healings.
Blessed Francis Xavier Seelos of New Orleans is one of the numerous priests and religious who are martyrs of charity, volunteering to minister to the sick and dying of the yellow fever in New Orleans, themselves getting exposed to the disease and dying in the love of God and neighbour.
May they pray for us!
Alex
