Well, I decided to put in my two cents worth.

I recall seeing a ancient Greek statue of a girl, probably from Asia Minor, and she was veiled, head and face. I believe the Byzantines women also wore a veil over their faces.

I know that the cone hats of the Middle Ages came originally from Cyprus. I have to assume that the veil hanging from the center, was to cover one's face.

As for the young girls not covering their hair in the Ukraine and other parts of Europe, and married women covering their hair, that seems to be part of the Jewish religion. Orthodox Jewish women 'must' cover their hair once they are married.

The pathetic thing is that they are following the 'law', yet not the purpose of the law because instead of scarves, they wear elaborate wigs.

As for covering one's hair in church, I was highly distracted by this gorgeous young model running her fingers through her gorgeous blond hair. Now that's as good a reason as any for veils. And me an old women.

As for men wanting to wear head coverings in church, that again is a sign of vanity. They want to cover their bald heads.

Deacon,

Again you assume to much. Since this post for whatever reason has degenerated into gibberish I wonder if it can be locked down.

Pray for me a sinner.

We in the Apostolic Tradition don't go in much for this kind of private interpretation of Scripture, rather we leave it to our bishops to teach us the meanings of the Scriptures and how to apply them in our lives. Since our hierarchs have not at this time addressed the need of women to cover their heads while in the temple, I consider it a non-issue, on the par of how many angels can dance on the head of a pin. To those who lie awake at night worrying about such as this, my advice is to get a life.

I like your Christ, I do not like your Christians. Your Christians are so unlike your Christ.

Moe,

I think anyone who has been here more than a week knows what each of us thinks of the others ideas. I hope this is shut down.
