Remie,

As a person with Native American blood in his background (though very distant), I must say that I am saddened that there is no objection to Middle Easterners and Europeans bringing their pre-Christian culture with them and baptizing it, but when Native Americans do it is derided as syncretism. Native American culture is beautiful and deserves to be preserved. This is an area where the Latin Church has outdone the Eastern. Most notably the Lakota and Navajo peoples have embraced the Church while at the same time preserving and incorporating their culture. I believe this is to be commended because it shows that the Church is truly Catholic.

In Christ,
