Someone wrote that "The Turkish Government is trying". Truer words were never spoken; I find the Turkish government very trying indeed!
I sympathize with Edward - but these days making a public announcement that one would like to ship them all into outer space without breathing apparatus is a definite no-no. Please note: Turkey is the only state in the Middle East allied with the Zionists.

The Turkish government is trying... or so they say . Dear Incognitus, To fully quote that person, please note the important ending to Zenovia's sentence! I agree with her AND I agree with you that they are trying indeed! In Christ, Alice

Dear Icognitus you said:
"I sympathize with Edward - but these days making a public announcement that one would like to ship them all into outer space without breathing apparatus is a definite no-no. Please note: Turkey is the only state in the Middle East allied with the Zionists."
I say:
Israel alligned itself with Turkey because Syria hates them. They have suffered so much under the Ottomans. I also believe that they were promised the city of Alexendretta and it was never given to them.
The Jews always had it quite good under the Ottoman Empire. The Greek city of Solonika was under the Turks when the Jews that were kicked out of Spain immigrated there. They fared quite well for four hundred years even as the city changed hands. That is until the Germans came during WW II.
Then again it was the Turkish diplomatic maneuvering because they mimicked Germany in everything and had quite close ties, yet they retained their favor with the Jews. A bit of 'Byzantine' diplomacy there.
The reason they refused to help us with the invasion of Iraq was because we would not allow Turkish troops to enter with us. All of Europe knew that had they entered, they would have found every excuse to massacre as many Kurds as possible as well as take over the oil wells. To them they had nothing to gain by helping us. We on the other hand lost a great deal. We are still suffering in Iraq because of it.
Funny how when 30,000 deaths are mentioned because of the friction between the Kurds and Turks, we are never told that probably 18,000 deaths are Kurds, and only two-thousand Turks. I'm only guessing but I'm sure it's something like that.
We really should differentiate though between the policy of the Turkish government and the Turkish people. They are lovely people but even though they consider themselves a secular country the basis of their culture is Muslim. As such they follow their leaders blindly. The pity is that when the Pope tried to write in the EU constitution that Christianity was the basis of European culture the Turks objected.
As usual they got their way. They always do. Now considering that they will impose a great burden on the EU economically and are culturally alien, they are managing through their 'diplomacy', (such as flying jets over Greek waters), to be invited in.
But then all is within God's Will. Who knows where the present situation will lead us?
They say though that it will be years before Turkey will truly be a member....and who knows what will happen by then.

In my last post I stated:
"Funny how when 30,000 deaths are mentioned because of the friction between the Kurds and Turks, we are never told that probably 18,000 deaths are Kurds, and only two-thousand Turks. I'm only guessing but I'm sure it's something like that."
What I really meant was:
"Funny how when 30,000 deaths are mentioned because of the friction between the Kurds and Turks, we are never told that probably 28,000 deaths are Kurds, and only two-thousand Turks. I'm only guessing but I'm sure it's something like that."
