Western Australia Melkite English Apostolate
For starters, this is a non-formal group that has been faithfully meeting for Divine Liturgy on Wednesday evenings in English. Leading us is assistant parish priest Fr. Kevin Cummins and Fr. Deacon Pierre Nahas. Mothering us however ;), is Presvytera Roula Cummins.

Thats Perth, Western Australia (WA), not to be confused with Washington State (WA), USA.

Thanks Collin for the pics, and Paul for the clarification.
I modified the thread title to reduce confusion. My first reaction, on seeing the thread was to wonder why Collin and not Ghosty was posting photos of the WA (Washington State) Melkite community and how it had devolved from Mission (or Parish, I forget which) to an Apostolate. I know, I know, we Americans are so parochial - we think that anything that could be interpreted as here must be here.
Many years,
Neil

Collin,
That is wonderful. I have wondered whether there might be somewhere in Australia a Byzantine liturgy celebrated in English.
God grant you many years!

Nice photo!
I've had a request at the website for a list of Byzantine Catholic parishes in Australia. The requester did not mention the city but I think he was from somewhere new Kew, Victoria which I guess is near Melbourne. Can someone who has such information please post it in this thread? I will provide the link to the requester.
Many thanks!
John

John, I haven't reduced these to a list yet, but the following links include the majority of EC and OC parishes and missions in Australia. Armenian Catholics Our Lady of the Assumption Armenian Catholic Parish [armeniancatholic.org.au]5 John St, Lidcombe, NSW Chaldean Catholics Eparchy of St Thomas the Apostle in Sydney of the Chaldeans St Thomas the Apostle Chaldean Catholic Cathedral 67-78 Quarry Rd, Bossley Park, NSW (The Eparchy does not yet have a website, and I haven't been able to secure a parish list as yet) Coptic Catholics There is a community; no info available to me as to where or if it is served. Ethiopian/Eritrean Catholics There is a community; no info available to me as to where or if it is served. Italo-Greico-Albanian Catholics There is a small, semi-organized community which is occasionally served by a priest of the Melkite Eparchy of St Michael in Sydney, but I don't know where it meets and I don't believe there is a regular schedule of Divine Services. I recommend contacting the Eparchy for further information. Maronite Catholics Eparchy of St Maron in Sydney of the Maronites All Maronite parishes [maronite.org.au]Melkite Greek-Catholics Eparchy of St Michael's in Sydney of the Melkites All Melkite parishes [melkite.org.au]Russian Greek-Catholics The Chapel of St Nicholas at the Russian Catholic Centre, formerly at Kew, has closed and, last I heard, was searching for a new home. I would recommend contacting Father Archimandrite Lawrence Cross, through either the Archdiocese (Latin) of Melbourne or the Melkite Eparchy of St Michael in Sydney for details as to where the community is presently meeting. Syriac Catholics There is a community; no info available to me as to where or if it is served. Syro-Malabarese Catholics There is a community; no info available to me as to where or if it is served. Syro-Malankara Catholics There is a community; no info available to me as to where or if it is served. Ukrainian Greek-Catholics Eparchy of Ss Peter & Paul in Melbourne of the Ukrainians All Ukrainian parishesMany years, Neil

Correction, Fr. Lawrence Cross is married, and is therefore Archpriest and not Archimandrite as initially posted. His details are better obtained from the Melkite Eparchy of St. Michael's Sydney.

And, before I forget, I must apologise for the oversight in not specifying what "WA" actually stood for... lol.
2. There is an Ethiopian Catholic community that meets in Maylands and currently shares facilities with a Latin parish. I have no idea who their priest is but I have heard he is biritual.
3. There is also a Syro-Malabar community, served by a Latin-Rite priest from Willeton in Perth. More details can be obtained from the parish at Willeton.

Just to let you know that the Russian Catholic Church community in Melbourne, Australia moved to a new home two weeks ago:
Chapel in the Old Convent (behind St Brigid’s Church), 27 - 33 Alexandra Parade, North Fitzroy, Victoria 3068 Australia
These details were archived away here.

Collin,
My mistake regarding Father Lawrence - should have remembered that.
Paul & Collin,
Thanks to both of you for the details regarding the Russians, Ethiopian, and Syro-Malabar. If you learn anything as to the whereabouts of the Copt, Syriac, and Malankara communities that are reported to be in Australia, I'd appreciate hearing about them.
Many years,
Neil
