Hello,

This might be a dumb question, but I just got my copy of Light for Life: The Mystery Believed, and I looked at the opening page. There isn't an Imprimatur or a Nihil Obstat. There is a paragraph saying it was approved by the hierarchs, but is that the same thing?

I'm guessing that an imprimatur is only done by the latin catholics? Is this correct?

Thanks!

It's handy to find the find those in a book it takes the worry out of wondering if the book is Kosher, or not. However God with us Publications is apprently run by the Redemptorists.

Dear Matt,

I do not know about the Imprimatur, but do know the the entire Light for Life series is now considered the ultimate Eastern Catholic Cathechism series. It was produced under the supervision of the Eastern Catholic bishops in the United States.

Here is a link if you wish further information.

Imprimatur and Nihil Obstat are Latin phrases used by the Latin Church. Our publications will simply say: "Published with Eccelsiastical Approbation".

God With Us Publications is not run by the Redemptorists. It is the imprint for the ECDD. Fr. Fred Saato, of the Melkites, is the manager I believe.

That is UNTIL our Ukrainian brothers and sisters publish theirs! (When will that be done, BTW? I await its publication with bated breath!)

I'm stymied why we don't use that series more...all that effort to publish, and yet - why aren't we getting it into the hands of everyone? It seems like a wasted resource, IMHO.

Yes, if it is anything like the Catechetical Directory for the UGCC, it will be well worth the wait (I lost track of how many times theosis and deification were mentioned).

Regarding LFL, it is a good series indeed. I just started "The Mystery Believed" with some early high school aged kids and we are having a blast.

Fr Deacon Lance,

Is that the series that was developed by all the Eastern Catholic Churches comeing together? The catacheists from each of the Churches worked together on it. That may well be why you do not see anything like you are looking for either.

Do you, or anyone reading here, know anything about the adult materials in that series? There are a number of titles, but I have never seen any of it.
