1 down for the catholics!

Great now any nutcase has access to a holy object.I wonder how many satanists would be interested in this.Isn't there a monastery that could use this? Or perhaps a poorer parish in need? What a disgrace.

Well, we certainly need a Holy Table. But plans are to have a local carpenter build one out of available wood to the proper specifications and then have cloths made to fit it. When we can afford something better for a Holy Table, the one we're planning on now can become the Prothesis Table. Incognitus

It is a grave violation of canon law to sell holy objects. The Pastor or Person responsible should be shot (metaphorically speaking).

I have encounterd such things before as a pirest giving away the parish 1860 chalice to a family he was friends with, only to have it end up on their brothers fireplace mantle and he drinks wine from it.

I'm guessing that many people do not know the rules. May the Altar find a safe, and happy, and holy home....according to all the correct rubrics.

Being that it is for sale through an antiques dealer, it is probably from a church that has already been closed. There are not too many options for a church closing its doors especially if there are creditors involved.

I have heard that there is a ritual of "desanctifying" objects/buildings so I just hope that such a thing has been done with that beautiful altar.

Just a thought.
