According to St. Malachy the next Pope will be the last... In persecutione extrema S.R.E. sedebit Petrus Romanus, qui pascet oues in multis tribulationibus: quibus transactis ciuitas septicollis diruetur, & Iudex tremdus iudicabit populum suum. Finis. (In extreme persecution, the seat of the Holy Roman Church will be occupied by Peter the Roman, who will feed the sheep through many tribulations, at the term of which the city of seven hills will be destroyed, and the formidable Judge will judge his people. The End.) Anyone study this in detail? Looks consistence . http://www.catholic-pages.com/grabbag/malachy.asp

What does this topic have to do with this forum? But since you asked, these so called prophecies are either a private revelation or superstitious forgeries...take your pick. Either way I prefer to trust in the Scriptures and the Fathers. Both seem to agree that we know neither the day or the hour of the end times and should live as if each minute is the last. Anything else, including these so called prophecies are idle speculation. Don

Don,
I think that with the impending war, turmoil in Israel, the North Korean problems and any natural diasters (earthquake in CA yesterday) people have a tendency to focus on end times prophecy. Its understandable. Gideon, Focus on the triumphs of Our Lady's intercession and truly believe that prayer and fasting can turn the tide for peace in the world. I keep focusing on a line in the song by Jewel "My Hands" "I will not be made useless". So I pray and fast.

I find comfort in end time events.
God is in control so why would I fear?
I fear judgement as all sinners do but my longing for the Lord's return is much greater, thanks for the advice.

They are very reminiscent of the phony-baloney Nostradamus stuff. Having done a few years research into private revelation I can tell you they do not seem to be private revelation but more like a politically motivated forgery or the product of someone who got a little to deep into the occult. (Hey! that is what you said!) A waste of time.

I've seen pockets of Latin Catholics that just love this stuff. Maybe be I've been hanging out with the ultra Traditionalist too much

I knew someone in his mid 30's with that same idea. He lives with his parents is not married and there are no prospects because he chases them away with that kind of talk.He is very unhappy because he can't find a bride. We have to be ready because at anytime our lives might be taken from us. So live like it is your last day.Say I love you, mend quarrels.I have children & grandchildren I want it to last and see them grow up and experience what God gave to us in this realm. If you are young and not contemplating religious life why aren't you hoping and longing for family and a future. If you have a family its not good that you take comfort in end times.

Rev 1:3 Blessed is he that readeth and heareth the words of this prophecy: and keepeth those things which are written in it. For the time is at hand.
Baba,
"If you are young and not contemplating religious life why aren't you hoping and longing for family and a future."
This is a common misunderstanding. Understanding Bible prophecy is for all people of the Church not just religious. Early Christians longed for the return of Jesus Christ as I do, it is our Faith to hope for the return of Jesus.
I live a very happy life and yes I'm married with children. I do not dwell on end times I do however have a good understanding of the Book of Revelations. Besides there is a blessing in having a popper understanding of end time events as quoted above.
On this Baba, we must agree to disagree.
God bless,
Gideon
