I read the history of Old Testament canon and see that the councils of Carthage listed 1 & 2 Esdras.

Although the Catholic Church accepts 1 & 2 Esdras, it seems that those books are different from what the councils define, for in the current Catholic Bible, 1 Esdras is the book of Ezra dan 2 Esdras is the book of Nehemiah, which from Septuagint's stand point, comprise only one book of Esdras.

If so, is the Catholic Bible lacking?
In defense of Catholic Canon, the councils like Carthage and Hippo is often given as proof that Deuterocanonical books are indeed part of the whole Bible.

But with these redefinitions, how can a Catholic maintain that the current Catholic Canon is identical with that of the one defined by Carthage and Hippo?
