Crossposted from the Prostopinije list, and originally posted by Ray Mastroberte:

Glory to Jesus Christ!
The following message I received from Msgr. John Sekellick this morning:

"Friends - a quick note to advise that Stanley Budzinski, cantor at St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church of Wilkes-Barre, PA suffered a massive heart attack this morning at home. He is now in the emergency room at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital. Following the morning Divine Liturgy, he and his wife went out for breakfast. Upon returning shortly thereafter, the attack came. He seems to have been stabilized. Your prayers for his good recovery are kindly asked."

I was introduced to Stanley at Carpathian Village about ten years ago when I was new to the Byzantine Church and just beginning to study chant. He was happy to offer advice and helpful hints from his vast experience. I will certainly pray for his speedy recovery!

Here's an update on Stanley from my dad, Ray Mastroberte:

I took some time to visit Stanley this evening at Wilkes-Barre General, and because of God's grace and the prayers of the faithful he looks great! He is so jovial and upbeat. He will be getting a catheterization on Monday, so please continue lifting him up in prayer, along with his family and those who minister to his spiritual needs. I left him with a positive message... "Make your heart like Jesus'"

Troparion
O Christ, You alone are prompt to defend us;
now quickly visit Your suffering servant.
Through the prayers of the Mother of God,
deliver him from illness and bitter pain.
Cure him that he may sing hymns to You and continually praise You,
for You alone love mankind.

Please keep Stanley in your prayers. He is still in the hospital and his condition is not sufficiently stable to move him or for him to go home. I saw him this afternoon (Friday, February 21st) and he seemed in good spirits but weak.
