Today it is the Nativity of the Most Holy Theotokos, special day.
May the Most Holy Theotokos cover with Her mercy the hearts of all the persons, especially those who are named Mary, Maria...
A Happy and Blessed Nameday for my sister in Christ, Mary Josephine, for Alice, for Elizabeth Maria, and all.
For the prayers of the Yperagia Theotokos and all the Saints, Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on us and all of us, and fill our souls with eternal life. Amen.

Thank you, brother Marian,
Here Pacific Time now it is still September 7th, but in a short time it will be tomorrow, September 8th, the [Nativityof the Most Holy Theotokos]--Feast of the Birth of Mary. May we all celebrate this day prayerfully and peacefully.
Romans 9: 4-5.
"To the Israelites belonged the adoption, the glory, the covenants, the law-giving, the worship, and the promises; theirs were the patriarchs, and from them came the Messiah."
Blessed forever be God who is over all. The above was a reading from my Liturgy of the Hours prayer book for this feast.
Here is the prayer which concludes the day tomorrow.
" Father of mercy, give your people help and strength from heaven. The birth of the Virgin Mary's Son was the dawn of our salvation. May this celebration of her birthday bring us closer to lasting peace."
Grant this through Christ, Our Lord, Amen!

Hmmmm... this is interesting. The Greek Orthordox Metropolis of Toronto (Canada) celebrates the Bith of the Mother of Most Holy Theotokos and Athanasius today. I assume that they would be on the revised Julian Calendar ?
Forasmuch as thou art a well-spring of tenderness, 0 Theotokos, make us worthy of compassion; Look upon a sinful people; Manifest thy power as ever, for hoping on thee we cry aloud unto thee: Hail I as once did Gabriel, Chief Captain of the Bodiless Powers.

Dear Brad, Yes, I'm not into revisionism . . . So now you've uncovered the important aspects of membership in the UGCC - faith in Christ, the Julian calendar and dedication to all things Ukrainian - and not necessarily in that order! Alex

Alex I was responding to our Orthodox brother in Romania, the first poster on this thread, who does celebrate the feast today as do I. He just sent me a beautiful iconogram. So you on the Julian calendar can save up for 13 more days. 'Mary' Jo
