Don't know when, but under the peculiar division of the country, most if not all of Texas falls in the Archeparchy of Pittsburgh, so that's why.

Cheers from a Parmaniac,

Hi Administrator,
I am not sure why, except that our pastor asked him to do so, but Metropolitan Basil is coming to Houston the weekend of December 13 and 14. He will only be in town about 24 hours. There is only one Byzantine parish in Houston, St. John Chrysostom; I don't think it has had an episcopal visit since its foundation just over 20 years ago. Truth be told, I am surprised that the Metropolitan could fit us in (this time of year, so far away, etc.) but I am thrilled that he could. AFAIK, all of Texas is in the Archeparchy of Pittsburgh.

Yep, don't know the reason why except that Fr. Julian invited him. I'm very excited about his coming visit though. Being out here on the frontier so far away leaves me feeling a little disconnected at times from the Eparchy at large. I'm glad he's able to squeeze us in.

I met him once in Pennsylvania for my Pre-Cana wedding preparation retreat and he was very warm and friendly. I look forward to seeing him again.

Oh and Alex (should you stumble across this thread as I'm sure you will), as you asked on an earlier thread a while ago, the weather down here is crazy. I go to work in the morning bundled up against the cold (50-60 degrees) and go home in a t-shirt in what feels about 90 degree weather. It's like I've heard, if you don't like the weather in Houston - just wait an hour.

Hopefully someone will inform the Metropolitan so he can pack appropriately!

"A fire broke out backstage in a theater. A clown came out to inform the public. They thought it a jest - and applauded. He warned them again - they shouted even louder! In this way I believe the world will come to an end, amid all the wits who think it is a joke."
