Dear friends,

A beloved Deacon of the Melkite Catholic Church has in the last week suffered from a brain tumor. It is a stage 4, inoperable, extremely aggressive form of cancer.

Fr. Deacon is 45 years old, with a wife and two young children. He has a PhD, and gives his all to his parish, by whom he is well-beloved.

The parish is sick over this sudden illness. The pastor said he was feeling a bit dizzy last Sunday, and went in for tests. Now he is unconcious and no one knows if he will be able to wake up to say goodbye to his family.

Summoning all the prayers of the saints in heaven, Theotokos, pray for us!

Dear Tammy,

My prayers for Father Deacon Nicholas.

May our Lord God, in His Most Holy Will, have mercy on the health of His servant, Nicholas, and on his beloved family at this shocking and difficult time.

Most Holy Theotokos, intercede on all their behalf...and take care of all of them in every way.

Amen.

PRAYER TO OUR BLESSED MOTHER FOR HOPE

O Most Holy Theotokos, Mary Ever-Virgin, the Mother of us all, have pity on your son the Deacon Nicholas and bring his prayers and those of his loved ones to the Throne of your Son, Our Blessed Lord Jesus Christ. You are all-powerful with your Divine Son. He can refuse no request made by you His loving mother. Show yourself a true Mother to us by being an advocate before His Throne for the Deacon Nicholas. O Refuge of sinners and Hope of the Hopeless, to whom shall we turn if not you? Obtain for us then, O Mother of God whatever graces Father Deacon Nicholas needs in order to face whatever Your Son wills for him. Grant the Deacon Nicholas the grace of true sorrow for his sins, the gift of perfect resignation to God's Holy Will, and the courage to take up the cross that Lord is asking him to carry. Beg of Our Blessed Lord to grant the prayers of his family and loved ones and above all we pray, O dearest Mother, that through your most powerful intercession the Deacon Nicholas and his family may be filled with Hope and confidence in You, so that in life's darkest hours they may never fail to trust in You by walking the way of the Cross in union with the Lord and you, His Most Holy Mother. Holy Virgin Mary, our mother and our hope, have pity on the Servant of the Altar, the Deacon Nicholas and his family and grant them whatever is best for them and their salvation. Hope of the Hopeless, pray for us all, now and at the hour of our death, Amen

In His Holy Name,
+Father Archimandrite Gregory

Lord, look with favor on your servant, Deacon Nicholas. If it is your will, O Lord, cure him of this horrific disease, return him to the bosom of his family and his parish community at Holy Transfiguration, and grant him many years in Your service and in the love of his family and Your people. But, if it is Your Will that he serve now at Your heavenly altar, preserve Deacon Nicholas from pain and give peace to him, his wife and his children and let them especially be aware of his love for them.

Lord Jesus Christ, You sit on the Throne of Glory of the Cherubim and are surrounded by the many-eyed Seraphim, Your Mercy flows from Your Throne like the river of living fire described in Scripture. Have mercy on Your servant, Nicholas, who has accepted Your Call to serve Your People as Deacon. Grant him a release from the tumor that threatens his life and restore him to Your Family, the Church, so that he may continue to serve Your People and praise Your Holy Name. Grant him a release, too, so that those You have given him to be his earthly family--those You have given him to guide, to guard, to comfort, to nurture, and to father--may continue to benefit from the gifts you have given him for their benefit. Through the prayers of Your Most Holy Mother, Mary, and of all the saints who have done Your will thoughout the ages, we ask you, Lord, to grant these petitions made by Your servants. Then may we all send up the glory to You, together with Your Father who is from everlasting and the All-Holy, Good and Life-giving Spirit, now and ever and unto ages of ages. AMEN.

Fr. Deacon Nicholas reposed in the Lord last Sunday, and his funeral is tomorrow morning at 10:30 at Holy Transiguration. We will all miss him so very much.

May the memory of Father Deacon Nicholas be eternal

O Lord, receive the soul of Your servant, Father Deacon Nicholas Rosov, who has departed from this earthly place to repose in Your Bosom; lead his soul to rest in a place of light, happiness, and peace, where there is neither pain nor suffering, neither grief nor sighing, but only life everlasting and he may assist You, the Great Priest, at the Heavenly Altar. And as You are a gracious God and the Lover of Mankind, remember his service to You and to Your people, and forgive him every sin he has committed by thought, or word, or deed, for there is not a man who lives and does not sin, for You alone are without sin and You are the Resurrection and the Life.

Holy Theotokos, who knows especially the sorrow of losing a Loved One, cast your Mantle of love over the wife and children of Father Deacon Nicholas, comfort them and intercede with your Son that they be given the strength to salve their grief with the knowledge that Father Deacon Nicholas did not suffer and that he is in a better place.
