GLORY TO JESUS CHRIST!
In your charity, please remember a friend, Ralph, as he prepares to make his "journey home".
Ralph has been battling cancer for several years and my ikon teacher phoned me yesterday to tell me that Ralph not expected to last the week.
Ralph had attended a number of ikon retreats with me and was a source of joy and amuzement to all who knew him.

Prayers for Ralph, that his end be peaceful and that Saint Luke, the Proto-Iconographer, greet him at Heaven's Gate.
Lord, when his time comes, receive Ralph's soul and lead it to a place of peace and rest, where there is neither pain nor sighing, neither sorrow nor tears, but only light and love.
"One day all our ethnic traits ... will have disappeared. Time itself is seeing to this. And so we can not think of our communities as ethnic parishes, ... unless we wish to assure the death of our community."

O St. JOSEPH, protector of those in agony, take pity on the servant of God RALPH
who at this time as I pray to you is engaged in
his last combat. Grant him complete hope and trust in Christ and a deepening of his faith. Intercede for him before the Throne of God and ask your foster child, the Lord Jesus to receive his soul in peace. Accompany him to the heavenly realm and comfort his soul along the way. Beg for mercy from Our Lord...that he may ascend quickly along the path that leads to Eternal Life in Paradise.
O Blessed Joseph, take pity on my soul too when the hour of the final battle shall arrive for me. Then, O my holy patron, do
not abandon me, but grant your assistance; show that you are my good father, and obtain that my Divine Savior may receive me with mercy into that abode where the elect enjoy a life that shall never end. Amen.

Thank you all for your prayers, Ralph peacefully fell asleep in the Lord yesterday morning. His funeral will be on Friday.
My ikon teacher was able to be with him on Monday and to say his good-byes. Ralph asked if my teacher could get an ikon of the Resurrection to place in the coffin. My teacher said he would do what he could...
My teacher returned home to Pittsburgh and was looking for a Resurrection ikon, not knowing where to begin. He found a box of stuff and took the lid off and there, ON TOP OF EVERYTHING, was a Resurrection ikon!
