Mussolini's Daughter Says World Should 'Beg Forgiveness' From Israel
Julie Stahl
Jerusalem Bureau Chief

Jerusalem (CNSNews.com) - The granddaughter of Italy's World War II dictator, Benito Mussolini, said the whole world should "beg forgiveness" from Israel.

Alessandra Mussolini is a member of parliament in the National Alliance party, which is headed by Italy's Deputy Prime Minister Gianfranco Fini, who is currently in Israel on a four-day official visit.

Fini, in a 1994 interview with the Italian paper La Stamp a, touted dictator Mussolini as "the greatest statesman of the century," but he has since withdrawn those comments.

Fini, who visited the Yad V'Shem Holocaust Memorial in Jerusalem on Monday, has said he plans to ask forgiveness of the Jewish people while he is in Israel.

Alessandra, who has in the past praised her grandfather, has also softened.

"Not only Gianfranco Fini, but the entire world, including the Vatican and the pope, should beg forgiveness of Israel," Alessandra was quoted as saying in an interview in the daily Ha'aretz .

Fini's party was once a neo-fascist faction but has shifted directions in recent years. Some predict that Fini will be Italy's next prime minister.

Fini's visit follows Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon's visit to Rome last week where he met with Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi, who is also the current head of the European Union .

Berlusconi and Fini are two of the few European leaders who support Israel's construction of a security barrier, which has caused some friction between Israel and Washington.

Berlusconi and Fini have both strongly denounced anti-Semitism in Europe, particularly the findings of a recent EU poll, in which 59 percent of respondents said they believed Israel is a threat to world peace, ahead of Iran and North Korea.

In related Italian development, politicians, priests, nuns and others joined Italy's small Jewish community for Sabbath services in synagogues across the country on Saturday in a show of solidarity following the suicide terrorist attacks on two synagogues last week in Istanbul.

Oh come on where's the antisemitism here? This is an example of how that word is being abused. Antisemitism is the hate against the Jewish race, because of their race and religion!

The modern State of Israel has nothing to do with the people of Israel and the Jewish nation of the Bible! Israel is like any other country like Iraq, Mexico or Brazil. And if it threats world peace it's not a matter of antisemitism, it's a matter of politics and history (modern history).

It's also an abuse how the liberal and socialdemocrat godless parties in all the world have accused Nationalists of all countries of being extremist, anti-foreign and chauvinist, while the State of Israel has a very right-wing ultranationalist government. That's hipocricy. Sure we must ask for the forgiveness of the Jewish people, because our Christian leaders andancesters were silent when they were suffering, but not to the modern government of the State of Israel.

People who are in favor of a World of Nations are knowing the true face of "democracy". Just look at what Nationalist Parties all over the world are being forced to do just to keep participating in the democratic farse.

First of all, there are Christian social democrats.

second, the social democratic parties of Western Europe have always been supportive of the Palestinian cause and have criticized the present right-wing government in Israel.

SWE,

I was concentrating on those Parties i am more familiar with in Western Europe and also "liberal" in the European context means different things then in an American context where many of our posters reside.
Actually, I do have Christian friends in the British Liberal Democratic Party smile but more in Labour through the Christian Socialist Movement.

Dear Friends,

The phenomenon of anti-semitism exists today, even in Orthodox religious circles surrounding the cult of the "child-martyrs" of Jewish blood rituals such as St Gabriel of Slutsk.

On "akafist.narod.ru" there is an akathist to this child martyr from a site that venerates all the Orthodox saints "martyred by the Jews."

The president of Belarus especially seems determined to promote this cult.

We must oppose anti-semitism wherever it can be found, even when found in our own churches.

Your sinful servant,

Alex

Sounds like nothing more than overly sentimental political grandstanding by someone who recently realised they have skeletons in the closet.
