He is a cultural oddity. Y'all know that the State of Ohio is named after the fine people who live there, don't you? The people I have met in Ohio were very friendly, but unfortunately seem to be accident-prone. That's where the name Ohio came from ---

The day we allow someone from "Millionaire" or "Marry My Dad" or "Survivor" or "Great Race" or the worm-eater festival of "Fear Factor" to get into and win in politics, is the day I move to Canada. It will have proved that Mr. Jefferson's dictum of "trust the people" will have been disproven.

In the Minnesota state assembly chamber are written in (grammarically bad) Latin Voltaire statement that "the voice of the people is the voice of God." Obviously Voltaire never lived in a democracy or he would have known better. On the other hand, he may have just have been exercising his famed satirical wit again. It is sobering to remember that Adolf Hilter was voted into power (by a narrow margin, but by a clear majority) under a democratic constitution. I might not agree with William Buckley, Jr. on many issues but his constant emphasis on that the American public should exercise their right to vote as though they were approaching a "secular sacrament" has much to commend itself.

Does ANYTHING embarrass the people of California anymore?  Do they know that they are the LAUGHING STOCK of the world? Do they CARE? Most likely not. WHAT a circus!!!
