In a press conference held earlier today in downtown Los Angeles, Gollum officially announced his candidacy in the upcoming California Governor Recall Election.

Gollum will be running for neither the Republican nor the Democratic party. He is the first recorded representative in any election for the "Precious Party'.

He also proposes a new solution to the energy crisis that has plagued the state for some time: “When the yellow face goes down…nasssty lights stay off.” When the problem of the decreasing school budgets arose Gollum merely replied, “Teach them about fisssshesss…”

Love it!

Personally I support Hathor the Cow Goddess, but I don't think she's running.

Nope! Catholics are notorious for not contributing to collections. What we need is a pierogi sale!! biggrin

Bingo, anyone? biggrin

I don't think Jerry Springer is representative of the fine people of Ohio. He is a cultural oddity.

Y'all know that the State of Ohio is named after the fine people who live there, don't you? wink

The people I have met in Ohio were very friendly, but unfortunately seem to be accident-prone.

That's where the name Ohio came from ---

a friendly "HI!" ---

surrounded by OH - OH!
:p

Perhaps it is the wine I had with dinner (had to spice up the vegetables somehow!!), but doesn't this pic look a lot like an aged Ross Perot?

Lord, help us all!

The day we allow someone from "Millionaire" or "Marry My Dad" or "Survivor" or "Great Race" or the worm-eater festival of "Fear Factor" to get into and win in politics, is the day I move to Canada. It will have proved that Mr. Jefferson's dictum of "trust the people" will have been disproven.

Blessings!

In the Minnesota state assembly chamber are written in (grammarically bad) Latin Voltaire statement that "the voice of the people is the voice of God." Obviously Voltaire never lived in a democracy or he would have known better. On the other hand, he may have just have been exercising his famed satirical wit again. It is sobering to remember that Adolf Hilter was voted into power (by a narrow margin, but by a clear majority) under a democratic constitution. I might not agree with William Buckley, Jr. on many issues but his constant emphasis on that the American public should exercise their right to vote as though they were approaching a "secular sacrament" has much to commend itself.

I think Dr. John may win the award for being most quotable --- out of context? biggrin

Does ANYTHING embarrass the people of California anymore? eek

Do they know that they are the LAUGHING STOCK of the world?

Do they CARE?

Most likely not.

WHAT a circus!!!

And the sad part is that these people really and truly think they are N*O*R*M*A*L.

Lord have mercy!!

(great satire -- uses truth to poke fun at lunatics)
