GREETINGS AND BLESSINGS TO YOU!
I am so thankful for being back on the "Byzantine Forum!"
I was a member of this forum (for a very long time) when it was running strictly in EMAIL format. That was several years ago. Then, I received a message that there were "new" ideas happening to take the Byzantine Forum to a higher level...at that time, I did not stay with it because many things were happening in my life...so, now I'm back!
I remember, back then, there was a lot of bickering of which I did not appreciate. There was a Cannon Law Professor (I think) who was moderating the forum then. I see now that current discussions are (generally) posted with much "charity" and "understanding." I am so happy to be back! And...I was (sort of quiet) and very rarely posted to the forum. But, now, I am more learned and I feel that I could exercise, more freely, sound thoughts to this forum. It is because of this "wonderful" network of open dialog between the EAST and WEST that we all learn! I am so blessed to have this opportunity again!
I am a Roman Catholic, but with an Eastern heart. My Mother was raised with "both" east and west in the Catholic faith. Her family had roots with the Greek-Catholic Church through her father. As her Mother was Roman Catholic. Her parents came from Czechoslovakia and lived in West Virginia. I have recently found, through research, that I (probably) have been baptized in the Greek Catholic Church. I am trying to tie some substance to this as it is a mystery in to how it was done when I was an infant.
But, nonetheless, I find the wonderful Church of the East the true Catholic foundation. And, what I have learned and studied all these past years (and through the previous forum) has enriched my understanding to a greater depth with appreciation and a devout love for the Byzantine/Orthodox way of life. It is so unfortunate that the Roman Church does not teach about its sister Church of the East! To me, that is the greatest sin! I have learned so much and anxious to learn so much more!
I wish, here openly, to express my gratitude of the Administrator, with assistance to be a part of this interesting dialog of Byzantine/Orthodox learning!
May our Lord always continue to Bless each of You!
