Has Mother Maria Skobtsova of Paris been canonized yet? I read about her life in Again magazine some years ago, and have the deepest admiration for her. Was she actually a monastic?
What exactly did she do or write to make some not as eager to venerate her?

She was canonized by the EP, as the Russian emigre jurisdiction in Paris she belonged to is under the EP. Another wonderful saint for our times. Some of the hesitation you mention may be because she was previously married twice before becoming a monastic.

Here is an excellent article by Jim Forest:

Jim's book on icons, by the way, is great. Interesting that she died on Great and Holy Friday.

My other website is dedicated to Saint Maria of Ravensbruck. http://www.geocities.com/Athens/Troy/1187
When I started the site in 1998, a web search only had a handful of references to her on the net. Today there are hundreds! Praise God! I hope that my humble effort had a role in her canonization. I have many private e-mails to me testifying to her influence in their lives. "GREATER LOVE HAS NO ONE THAN THIS, THAT THEY LAY DOWN THEIR LIFE FOR THEIR FRIENDS!"

Ray, that is indeed a very nice tribute to St. Maria. Ray's Canon to St. Maria at http://www.geocities.com/Athens/Parthenon/4541/canon.html is very lovely - I am sure your prayers and efforts did not go unnoticed above... smile
