I've heard stories of some of the non-canonoical's ordaining people by having them place a phone over their head as the "candidate". Now I suppose - it's the mouse? I had a conversation with a classmate of mine at an evangelical graduate school last year. She indicated that she thought it was perfectly acceptable for people to attend church online. To her, it seemed the natural next step for the Christian church - virtual services for a virtual generation. I said - "I'm sorry - but where do you find the phrase 'point and click' in the original NT Greek?" I suppose if you appreciate disembodied worship, the virtual chapel is a good fit! Gordo

Holding the phone over the head of the candidate could work. At a goverment agency where I worked for 20 years, we did something similar. When the computers crashed, we waved a rubber snake over them. It actually did about as much good as the in-house tech reps most of the time.

Dear Gordo, That's exactly how I consecrated Mor Ephrem a Patriarch! It was with his mouse, he kissed it thrice, walked around his computer in a kind of liturgical dance and then kneeled as he read the words of consecration . . . Now I know I don't have valid Orders. But on the other hand, if all these guys on the internet can do it, I think I'm slightly above their league!! In any event, I'm not taking any chances and continue to refer to Mor Ephrem as the "Catholicos." I think he's grown into his role over the years . . . don't you? Alex
