The Church is not there to indulge whims. I dont like this or that so I take my bat and ball and run my own game until I get my way.

ICXC NIKA It seems to be doing just that for modernists and protestant sects.

Yes Pavel However we are not turning the whole church on it ear for those who left the Church. That's a sad statement. Love us who are still withing the Holy Church; that will be enough. But do not forget how we have loved and died for those who left her: St Andrew Bolboa, St Josaphata and all those who died in prison camps of the likes of Fr Cizeck; the Church has indeed gone on its ear for the cause of Holy Unia and we must continue it, even through much blood, until it is accomplished and there be but one flock and one shepherd. Keep in with charity those who are in; today that is especially the traditional Catholics; call in with charity those who are out especially the Orthodox.

This sounds very much like a war cry and we must continue it, even through much blood, until it is accomplished and there be but one flock and one shepherd. Are you seriously expecting blood to be spilt - I do hope not. Let's continue in prayer

Dear Slave of Our Lady's Love No offence intended! .... Just charitable humour. I nearly called you the real vernacular which I'm sure you've heard, it is supposed to be very friendly they say "hen"... but... I didn't say it because I didn't want you to lay one of those Easter eggs that you think might not hatch. Truly, no offence intended.

You guys are not in the same league as them. They were with the Holy See and who ever was the Pope of the day. They could have split any time but chose not to. Many who suffered did not even know who was Pope at times. Still they stayed the course. They could have set up outside the Church at anytime and it would have been over and the good times could have started. You guys have not endured the dark night of the soul but did not get your way and left to set up your own Church. Dont put yourselves in with them.

With deference to you Father I would have been greatly incensed if you had - You are I suspect a good deal younger than me

GMmcnabb - I will refer you to the Papal Apostolic Letter Ecclesia Dei of July 2, 1988. As you profess to be Catholic I assume you accept the Magesterium of the Church. In the aforementioned document is this very clear paragraph: 3. In itself this act was one of disobedience to the Roman pontiff in a very grave matter and of supreme importance for the unity of the church, such as is the ordination of bishops whereby the apostolic succession is sacramentally perpetuated. Hence such disobediencewhich implies in practice the rejection of the Roman primacyconstitutes a schismatic act.[3] In performing such an act, notwithstanding the formal canonical warning sent to them by the cardinal prefect of the Congregation for Bishops last June 17, Archbishop Lefebvre and the priests Bernard Fellay, Bernard Tissier de Mallerais, Richard Williamson and Alfonso de Galarreta have incurred the grave penalty of excommunication envisaged by ecclesiastical law.[4] Ipso Facto excommunication, from the mouth and words of the Successor of Peter. What more do you need? How can you say the four bishops are not excommunicated? What other papal documents do you not accept? What the Church "seems" to be doing is nothing more than your judgment. I certainly don't agree with all of the liturgical chaos in the West. But no, not one bishop currently in communion with Rome supports the SSPX in maintining its schism. The successor to Bishop Castro de Meyer in Brazil, Bishop Rifan, reconciled with Rome and now enjoys full faculties as a Bishop and his priests are free to offer the Traditional Mass and Sacraments as they will. He does NOT support the SSPX - in fact the SSPX have publically ridiculed him for his reconciliation. Any of the SSPX bishops could petition for this precedent - and considering the current Pontiff as Cardinal Ratzinger along with Cardinal Hoyos brokered the deal with Bishop Rifan - they would make it happen. All that is needed are two things: humility, and obedience. God will take care of the rest. Why would there need to be negotiations and talk of "reconciliation" if they were already in full communion with the Catholic Church? FDD
