Israel is calling up all reservists and dropping leaflets warning people to leave their villages in the south and head north imeadiately. Looks like a ground offensive has started judging from news reports of fighting inside Lebanon on the ground.

No the only ones are being dropped by the Israeli airforce telling people to get moving and leave the area...before the tanks arrive. There has been no mention of Iranians and they dont have the capacity to drop anything anyway with Israel controlling the sky.

What I don't understand is the passive attitude of the Christian nations, Orthodox Russia, the Latin Americans who have so many Lebanese among them, France that once protected the Lebanese Christians.

There's an Israeli community in almost every country, if the patriotic people of those countries launched a threat against them, Israel would probably stop this invasion but no one really cares about this.

Whats Christian about any of them? The Foreign Ministers of France and Germany are in Beirut now, that is hardly passive considering there is a war on.

Dear Mexican,

I don't think you realize that the war is against Hezbollah, which is supported by the Shiite Muslims. The Israeli's are not bombing the Christian area's, but rather those neighborhoods where the Shia terrorists are hiding...such as the southern part of Lenanon and the southern suburb of Beirut. Funny how Hezbollah chased the Christians away, and settled near Israel? confused

The reason that Hezbollah has so much power is because they also run social services in the same way Hamas did among the Palestinians. It's the terrorist's new politics. The money comes from Iran in the same way the arms do, in order to take control of the government. I wonder why? confused

At first I was shocked at the extent of damage that Israel inflicted on the Shia's, but that was until I realized how many missles they had. What were they planning to do with them? Since they were coming in from Syria, they could not have been planning to bomb that country. So their intent had to be Israel...and let's face it, how many times has Iran, their supplier, said that they wanted to eliminate Israel?

Yes it would be wonderful if peace could be restored, and Hezbollah would sign agreements with Israel. But you know that can never happen, because their religion states that any land that has once been Muslim, must become Muslim once more. So the only thing they will respect is force...as horrible as that sounds.

Well the Mullah, (forgot his name), that leads Hezbollah said today for the Shia's not to worry, he will rebuild their homes. Now we all know where that money will come from. I guess he wants to thank them for their support, and for allowing them to keep their weapons hidden among the civilian population. So much for the concern for the lives of their own people.

Oh, I forgot to say. The Sunni's want to rebuild the Caliphate and be in charge, and so do the Shia's. No wonder there is so much sectarian violence in Iraq. Boy they have such a great concern for human life. Now all we need to do is have the Turks join the fray. Why not a new Ottoman Empire?

I guess Newt Gingrich was right, it is the start of WW III. frown

Sorry, I was merely referencing Iran's potential involvement if Israel makes such a move. I didn't mean it literally shocked

Peace and God bless!

I truly cry and lament seeing the destruction of a beautiful country and in seeing the fear and the pain of a beautiful Christian people, ( infact, my best friend in high school was of Lebanese descent) but, in all objectivity, I also can understand Israel's concerns.

I heard the address of the Israeli Ambassador to the United Nations last night, and indeed, their destruction is sought all around them.

Infact, I will even give one brownie point to the madman President of Iran: atleast he was honest in saying that he wishes to see Israel wiped off the map

Israel is not the world's enemy, radical Islam is. It is a religious-nationalism and an idealogy of sorts which transcends nations and spreads like a cancer through countries. Israel is only struggling to survive. Though by no means a perfect country with perfect policies domestically, I believe that it has a right to its survival.

Zenovia is right about the Caliphate. In an indepth underground documentary taken in London's mosques and Islamic community, it was revealed that the Imam's sermons to the young male community (many of them Moslem students from other nations) was that of the goal of restoring and expanding the historic Caliphate throughout Europe.

The world is in danger as it was during the early days of Hitler's reign. Again, we are fortunate in the U.S., that we are generally far removed from this madness and danger because of the great oceans which divide us, yet the future is definitely ominous for Europe. It may be up to us again, as in WWI and WWII to stop the madness. God help us all!

Dear Marian,

I saw the pictures. Who though is more to blame? Those who deliberately want their people to martyr themselves in order to expand their religious/political ideology, (in this case Islam), or those that fight to protect themselves from that ideology? frown

I know that many today are too young to remember the famous words of Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain after visiting Adolph Hitler in Germany. "We will have peace in our lifetime", or something like that. I'm not sure if it was the next day, or the next week that Hitler attacked Poland.

the Mamluks created the greatest Islamic empire of the later Middle Ages, which included control of the holy cities Mecca and Medina.
Ahh... I see. I didn't know what you were talking about.

Just imagine if they actually stopped - fighting each other (!) we would really be in sore straights then!

Dear sister Zenovia,

It is not a matter of who is blamable or so. But those children died. No matter if Lebanese or Israeli or so on. The death of a child, killed by a gun, is a tragedy beyond any word. Soul trembles and tears.

Prayers...

Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on this world. Amin!

In Risen Christ, Marian
