GLORY BE TO JESUS CHRIST!

Deal All,

Our Protosyncel asked me if I had the Arabic
version of "IS POLLA ETI, DESPOTA". Perhaps
it would be used during the upcoming visit of HB
Ignace Moussa Daoud in Peremyshl (July 7th - tenth anniversary of our Metropolia).

Could anybody help me? I am interested in both original Arabic version and phonetical one written using Latin letters.

In my church we say "sanawaat adeeda" with the first "a" very stressed.

Could you (or anyone else) provide original Arabic text as well? I think our church officials want to write this on the front of the cathedral.

I can't offhand provide the Arabic text - although I shall look. But a transliteration might read something like:

Liss-see NEE na-ka-THEE-ra ya Sa-yeed.

The Arabic text of what Andrew gave you is ????? ?????? (I hope that shows up properly).

Hmm, I don't think that worked. it shows up as all question marks for me. How can I post in a different alphabet?

Just to add to the confusion: Patriarch Ignatius Moussa Daoud is the former head of the Syrian Catholic Church - which was serving in Syriac the last time I looked. So if you want to be really utterly on target, you need the appropriate acclamation in Syriac.

The question is where to get it. There is a Syrian Catholic Eparchy in the USA which supposedly has a web-site. If they can be reached, the best solution might be to have them send you the Syriac text of the acclamation by telefax.

Sebastian Brock would certainly know, but this time of year there's no telling where he is.

To Incognitus: Well, I do know from where His Beatitude is, but:

1) my Protosyncel wants the text in Arabic;
2) I am not sure whether Syrians have such a liturgical acclamation as ours. Our authorities
definitely want to write in both Greek & Arabic, so maybe the text should be the same and from the same tradition (Byzantine), which is also ours.
3) Syrian "church roots" notwithstanding, His Beatitude is native and citizen of an Arab-speaking country, istn't he?

So the Arabic text remains a solution, I think. Well, I am not the person who thinks - my authorities are such. I have only to obey their commands.

In that case I modify my advice slightly - find someone who has the Arabic text of Eis Polla eti, Despota, and have him fax it to you. You can then magnify it to your needs and put it up.

Well, fax is a solution. However, personally I have none, so it would be Metropolitan Curia's fax.
