Pope tells Orthodox leader of "determination" for unity

http://www.cwnews.com/news/viewstory.cfm?recnum=38137

Vatican, Jun. 30 (CWNews.com) - Pope Benedict XVI (bio - news) has sent a message to Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew I of Constantinople, underlining his "firm determination" to pursue ecumenical ties with the Orthodox world.

The Holy Father met on June 30 with a delegation of Orthodox prelates representing Patriarch Bartholomew. The Orthodox delegation had come to the Vatican to join in the celebration of the feast of Sts. Peter and Paul on the previous day-- just as the Vatican annually sends a similar group to Istanbul for the feast of St. Andrew, the patron of the Patriarchate.
