Dear Friends:

I ask for your prayers for me regarding vocational discernment. This afternoon, after DL, my wife and I were talking with our pastor. I mentioned to Fr. that if he needs additional altar servers, I would volunteer. I also told him that while I do not wish to be presumptuous, I could imagine the possibility of being considered for the diaconate at some point in the future. Fr. said that he had thought about that possilibity. He had to talk to another parishioner, and that was the end of our conversation. Ordained ministry is something I've pondered for quite a long time. In fact, a few years ago, while I was still in the Episcopal Church, I was presented by my pastor to the bishop as a candidate for admission to postulancy. While I consider myself to be too new to the Eastern Catholic tradition, too early in my marriage, not stable enough financially, and, in all honesty, not spiritually mature and disciplined enough right now, I still feel drawn to serving the Church through the ordained ministry. Please pray for my spiritual state and for discernment. I need to be sure that my sense of being drawn to serve as a deacon or possibly even a priest is truly God's call in my life, and not simply my own desires.

In Christ,

Ryan

Our Father, Who art in heaven,
Hallowed be Thy Name.
Thy Kingdom come.
Thy Will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil. Amen.

May God help you discern His call. My unworthy prayers.

Prayers, Ryan! May the Holy Spirit guide you!

(And I offer a virtual "Axios!")

Blessings, bro.
