I apologize to anyone who is/was offended by my posts. Neither offense, insult nor combat was my intention. I was simply trying to show sensitivity to the Latins even though they often don't show sensitivity to the East. I am often too blunt in my approach.

It is indeed a shame that this happened to you. I hope you feel you can pursue it again with the pastor and or his bishop. But I think the better approach is through your own eparch. Has anyone found the pertinent canon law?

We never encountered this problem when our children were young. We'd speak to the presiding priest prior to Mass - we made a point of getting to church early as in the last 15 minutes prior to Mass is not the greatest time for slow priests - like me - to make quick unexpected decisions. The only "concern" we encounterd was an RC priest/pastor who wondered how this would affect the parish community entrusted to his care. Would there be any confusion etc. created ... after a few moments of consideration he decided that it would not in any way be harmful to the community entrusted to him. I was impressed though that he did take the time to listen not only to our needs as a family, but also to consider the needs of the community.

Melkite says that communion is not as neccessary for children as adults? It is also important to protect the elements from abuse i.e vomiting ect. Gastric juices which could corrode metal I guess is quite allright as long as they stay confined in the gut.

Two things in response, "Do not prevent the children from coming to me." and Jesus can take of himself and is not the least bit squeamish in relationship to our humanity nor can the Risen Lord be harmed or abused by our as yet non glorified state.
