I met this priest last weekend when he was visiting my parent's parish in Maryland. The book was for sale in the vestibule, so I bought it. It's much more than a book though, it's a multimedia ministry. http://gracebeforemeals.com/

He told me he has a show coming soon, believe it or not, on PBS. Each week he goes to a different home, or even a shelter or prison, cooks a meal and uses his priestly skills to bring people closer together. I don't know when the show will premier, but I have a good feeling it will really take off. By the way, Father Leo teaches at Mount St. Mary's Seminary in Emmmitsburg, Maryland.

This may be a little of topic, but my wife and I just returned from a trip to Italy where "Slow Food Motion" has taken off. It's a movement in reaction to the mainly negative aspects of the fast food industry. A website: http://www.slowfood.com/about_us/eng/manifesto.lasso

I love it...atleast one meal should be prepared and eaten at home every day...
I hope you enjoyed Italy...my favorite place in the world!...and don't get me started about the beautiful, regional foods...deliciozo!

Alice,
you're absolutely right - if not one meal, at least a few times a week. The work of cooking a meal together is good bonding between generations, and eating together is a form of communion and togetherness.
Oh yes. Italy and her food. YUM!

I agree with all the above. A communal meal of some sort once a week (in addition to the Eucharist)could impact society in such a positive way. I believe there are early Christian roots involving a "love feast" in addition to the Eucharist. Maybe the historians here can comment.
