Prayers for you Dr. Eric as you await "God's open window". Orest, you hit the nail on the head. My brother, 37 yrs. old with a Master's Degree, was told on a Tuesday (last January!) "this is your last day". No warning, no reason, other than "company restructuring". He has been out of work since. I have other relatives (all in the midwest)who live in constant fear of losing their jobs. My sister-in-law is waiting word any day now about her company's layoffs. Let's all join our prayers for our brother Eric and all those in need of employment, especially at this time of year.

Continued prayers for Dr. Eric, for Father Michael's brother Todd, and for all men (and women) who have families to support and are enduring the trials and cross of fear and despair in seeking employment.

In Christ,
Alice

P.S. Dr Eric: I have given your name to be prayed for at my parish's weekly paraklisis to the Theotokos tomorrow night.

Thank you Alice! smile

I have 2 phone interviews tomorrow, one for a job in Indy and one in St. Louis! (That St. Louis job is the one I want.)

I also have to travel to St. Louis on Monday to do personal interviews.

I hope to be home for Christmas! cry

O Lord, You who steadied the hand of Peter as he began to sink on the stormy sea, if you are with Dr. Eric, no one is against him. Grant to him the shield of faith and the mighty armor of the Holy Spirit to protect him and guide him to do Your will. The future he put into Your hands, O Lord, and he will follow You into a deeper life in Christ. Amen

Thank you all for your prayers.

On this Feast of St. Nicholas I ask for a present. There is an opportunity for a very stable career here in Indy and I ask for prayers that I get it. The position will be very rewarding and has the opportunity to start about 8-10K above what I was making. There is a definite possibility to be making double what I was in about 3 years. That would definitely help to take care of my wife and 4 little children.

St. Nicholas pray for us!

Psalms
Chapter 23

1
1 A psalm of David. 2 The LORD is my shepherd; there is nothing I lack.
2
In green pastures you let me graze; to safe waters you lead me;
3
3 you restore my strength. You guide me along the right path for the sake of your name.
4
4 Even when I walk through a dark valley, I fear no harm for you are at my side; your rod and staff give me courage.
5
5 You set a table before me as my enemies watch; You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.
6
6 Only goodness and love will pursue me all the days of my life; I will dwell in the house of the LORD for years to come.

If being fired is what it took to put you into a position to better care for the spiritual needs of your family... not so bad. Some times it takes something like this to get us moving.

My prayers are that the good Lorod who knows our needs open another door for you.

Please let us know what that door turns out to be.

Peace be to your conscience.

The best of luck my friend. I've given my opinion in the Philly versus Pittsburgh threadd. I just hope there are answers for you and your family before the holidays so you know what will be happening. I've been in unemployment situations beofre and 's never easy. Rest assured you will be thought of.

I'm sorry that I'm just writing now. I have hardly been on the forum in the past two weeks. frown Tomorrow, I will light a candle at Liturgy and offer all of my prayers for you throughout the Liturgy.

Joe

I am going to remind posters again, this section is for prayers only, either requesting it or acknowledging you are praying for someone's request. Non-prayer related posts or general discussion will either be deleted outright or edited to remove non-prayer related content. There is a thread in another section on the same issue and that is where non-prayer related or general discussion posts belong.

Everyone baptized into Christ should pass progressively through all the stages of Christ's own life, for in baptism he receives the power so to progress, and through the commandments he can discover and learn how to accomplish such progression. - Saint Gregory of Sinai
