I am wondering if any of the good members of the Forum are somewhat familiar with the British comedy series that is sometimes shown on PBS - "Keeping Up Appearances" with Patricia Routledge starring in the role of Hyacinthe Bucket pronounced bouquet.

It is somewhat humorous!

Take care,

John Doucette

Hi John,

Yes, I am quite familiar with it and I think that it is humorous too. Poor Hyacinth's long suffering husband Richard...he could surely become a patron saint of patience and forebearance!

Also, I quite feel sorry for the good Vicar when sister Rose flirtatiously comes after him..

Believe it or not, I have an acquaintance whose appearance, mannerisms, silliness, and preoccupations are VERY much like Hyacinth's...and she has a husband who puts up with her 'unique' ways just as patiently as Richard does.

Regards,
Alice

Wonderful show! Hyacinth reminds me of a dear lady to whom I am very closely related. I won't say who but you can guess. LOL

There is usually something for a Mrs. Rich-ard Bouquet. I'm sorry, Lady but there is nothing here for boo-kay. Nothing for this address, yet you have something for next door. I find that very strange, It's common knowlege that I receive more mail than these next door.

I once met an Anglican bishop whose wife was Hyacinthe Bucket to the life - it had reached the stage that people were actually calling her Hyacinthe instead of using her real name.

My favorite episode is the one where they test drove a Rolls Royce. I presume you've seen that one. Another humorous one is when the Vicar came for tea and light refreshments.

"Is the Wholesome Bakery?" Now tell me, and I shall know if you're lying, are your fresh creme cakes really fresh?" "I have the new vicar coming for tea and light refreshments".

Perhaps we should all get together for a candlelight supper?

Hyacinthe, Rose, Violet and what's the other sister's name? The writer must love flowers!
