Dear friends,

A fairly new comer to our Courage group has come down with severe Pneumonia and has a mass in his lung. He is HIV positive. He has shown very sincere repentance since I have known him (met him back in July) and had recently begun RCIA at the Cathedral of Christ the King in Atlanta with hopes of entering the Catholic Church on Easter. Now it appears he may not make it that far. Please remember "Joe" (not his real name) in your prayers.

Especially on this feast of the Nativity / Theophany / Epiphany, may God the Almighty bring peace and enlightenment and mercy on his servant, Joe.

May the Theotokos intercede on his behalf !

Hi folks,

Thanks for your prayers. Here is an update.

I just learned that "Joe" does NOT have Pneumonia. In this regard, considering he has HIV, this is good. On the other hand, he has been diagnosed with lung cancer. To my knowledge he has smoked the occasional cigarette and the odd cigar but has never been a habitual smoker. So this came as a real surprise both to him and everyone else. He had surgery today and it appears that the cancer was very localized in one lung so it was easy to take out. His doctor said he had one case before that was nearly identical and that that patient had fully recovered and is doing well.

So, please continue to pray for Joe. He deeply appreciates your concern.

The Church will make exceptions and not make this poor man wait until Pascha. Couldn't this be done for him?

I'll pray for Joe at Vespers tomorrow evening. Prayers to the Theotokos.

You know, I had not thought of that. I'll check into it.

Thanks,

The Faternity of St Peter is in Atlanta. I am sure they do not care about RCIA. They are not subject to it as Tridentine Priests in union with the Pope. Also I am sure a decent Byzantine priest would be helpful.I just want this man to get what he needs. I have a dear friend who has been helped by courage and I really love what they do. God bless.

In danger of death I would be surprised if his priest would not receive him in to the church immediately.
The Saint Bridget Prayers have been offered for him in Butte, Montana.

I went to vespers and I said prayers for him and lit a candle for your friend. I am about to email some nuns and have them pray for him. God bless him and you for asking for prayer.

My friend Steve and I visited "Joe" in the hospital last night. He is doing very well and his prognosis is excellent. He has used the circumstances as an opportunity to "come clean" to his family about his life and is very much at peace right now. He will probably be released from the hospital within a week.

Good idea Mrs W.

Jason call Fr. Scott in Roswell at Epiphany. Part of his work and love is prison ministry. He may be exactly who he needs to talk with. biggrin

Through the intercession of St. Peregrine, I offer my prayers for "Joe."
