I came across the following in a much longer poem entitled "Blame the Vicar" by the English writer, John Betjeman:

"When things go wrong it's rather tame
To find we are ourselves to blame
It gets the trouble over quicker
To go and blame things on the Vicar."

The poem goes to recite the experience of a community that was dissatisfied with the first and second replacements for their deceased Vicar and then found themselves with none at all. The poem concludes:

"Dear readers, from this rhyme take warning,
And if you heard the bell this morning
Your Vicar went to pray for you,
A task the Prayer Book bids him do.
"Highness" or "Lowness" do not matter,
You are the Church and must not scatter,
Clng to the Sacraments and pray
And God be with you every day."

Our exchanges in the various Forums on this site sometimes seem to be a bit lacking in simple Christian charity. I offer these words from an Anglican versifier to help us keep things in perspective.
