Few people declare they are going to murder a lot of people and then go about doing so without anyone of a mind to stop them. This story will shock you. It almost made me throw up. Whole article: http://www.yaledailynews.com/articles/view/24513

April 17, 2008 - (Yale Daily News) - Art major Aliza Shvarts 08 wants to make a statement.

Beginning next Tuesday, Shvarts will be displaying her senior art project, a documentation of a nine-month process during which she artificially inseminated herself as often as possible while periodically taking abortifacient drugs to induce miscarriages. Her exhibition will feature video recordings of these forced miscarriages as well as preserved collections of the blood from the process.

The goal in creating the art exhibition, Shvarts said, was to spark conversation and debate on the relationship between art and the human body. But her project has already provoked more than just debate, inciting, for instance, outcry at a forum for fellow senior art majors held last week. And when told about Shvarts project, students on both ends of the abortion debate have expressed shock saying the project does everything from violate moral code to trivialize abortion.

But Shvarts insists her concept was not designed for shock value. ...

That is just the most sickening I have EVER heard in my life! I can't even begin to express the ultimate feeling of disgust and deep realization that this lady is extremely mentally and morally disturbed beyond any levels of comprehension.

This shows the moral and intellectual value of the "Ivy League".

They are supposed to be elite schools, but have become showcases of depravity.

Worse, I think, than Hollywood or TV, because they masquerade as educators.

Most people understand that TV and movies are just entertainment. They take colleges and universities seriously.

No one "educated" at these schools should be considered for any job higher than dog catcher.

There is viciousness in how she disparages the dignity of human life. Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter (Isaiah 5:20).

"I hope it inspires some sort of discourse. Sure, some people will be upset with the message and will not agree with it, but it's not the intention of the piece to scandalize anyone."

I have always been curious as to what some in the art crowd consider to be discourse. Especially when their pieces contain no message.

What if I were to express my emotions by walking up to someone and slapping them in the face? I then tell them of my hope that they weren't upset with my message and say that I am now open for discourse. Her case is worse because she is harming her children and herself.

This highlights how important it is to inspire the development of a well formed conscience in our children.

Seemingly there is some doubt about the veracity of this item

Did she ? Or didn't she ? [newsbusters.org]

I wonder if we will ever know the truth

In a way I'm relieved that it is not true she induced abortions upon herself, but I remained sickened that "The entire project is an art piece, a creative fiction designed to draw attention to the ambiguity surrounding form and function of a womans body."

Is it the form and function of a woman's body to expel unborn children as if they were foreign objects? Her project seems to align with the "it's my body" justification for abortion.

I am disgusted by her 'artificially inseminating herself' , and by the practice of sperm donors and banks who offer her this option, as well.

Well, that's art these days and that's creativity for you. Art is eccentric and weird I'll say, but this sounds disgusting. If this sounds disgusting, I wonder what the word would be to describe it.
