Rachael76 BANNED Member R Joined: Feb 2008 Posts: 32 USA	In the O.T. many jews were married even some that were apart of the Essenes. My question is "are there any jews today who have decided to not marry for reasons like some Religious Orders in the Catholic church? Rachael

A Simple Sinner Member A Joined: Apr 2007 Posts: 1,131 Eparchy of Van Nuys	Not exactly the same thing, but there have been some rabbinical scholars whose decision to not marry was seen as acceptable because they were so engrossed in their scholarship. By and large, I believe that is uncommon.
