I am scheduled for surgery tomorrow afternoon to take care of a surgical incision that was made in December. It's a long story that I won't go into here. It actually started in 1993 with a brain tumor. The December surgery on my spine helped me tremendously but it became infected and I had to have three surgeries at different times to clean out the infections that kept coming back. Each surgery widened the original incision. I have finally been infection free (and therefore surgery free) long enough for the original incision site to heal enough that the surgeon feels he can safely close the site. He'll take fat from other portions of my body (he has enough areas from which to choose!) and fill in the site, then stretch the skin from either side of the site to cover it up, or graft skin if he needs.
This will be the tenth surgery in the same area since November 6, 2005. Most have been on the spine, including putting in rods and screws in 14 vertebrae. It's been a long road and there have been many times I have felt like Job. But I think this one will finally take care of things and I can start to get my life back. I will never be the same as I was before November 2005. I will probably be on disability soon. But that is beyond my control, as has much of what has happened.
Please help me out with your prayers and thoughts, they will be appreciated. It's been a long two and a half years. Please pray that this surgery will be the last and I can get back to serving God in a more physical way. That would certainly make me happy!
Tim

May St. Nektarios, the Wonderworker, and all the saints whom you hold dear intercede for you and help you overcome this long trial and tribulation with your health.
May you return to us fully healed, healthy, whole, and happy. God bless you,
In Christ our Hope, Alice

Through the prayers of St. Nectarios, St. John of San Francisco, and the Most Pure Theotokos, O Christ our God, have mercy and grant healing and salvation to thy servant Tim.

Thank you all so very much. I am just getting ready to leave and wanted to check. Yes, Anhelnya, there is a wee bottle from Bari with me and some Holy Water from Lourdes. I horde that like Ebeneezer Scrouge!
Thank you all very, very much.

Lord of the Powers be with us, for in times of distress we have no other help but You. Lord of the Powers, have mercy on Tim, and his family. Guide the physicians as you are the Great Healer of mankind. May his healing be complete and the ability to function as normally and beyond normal as one can with rods in their back.
God bless you brother!

Thank you all for your prayers and thoughts. The plan changed slightly. I was originally supposed too be in the hospital a minimum of two days with a maximum of four days. Before surgery, my doctor said he had been thinking and since I don't have much of an immune system anymore and keep getting infections, he didn't want me in the hospital for very long. As he put it--"hospitals are filthy, dirty places with germs everywhere." Nice to find a doctor who is actually honest! So we did the surgery Thursday as scheduled and I was released Friday afternoon. So I am home now and doing well after a good night's sleep in my own bed.
I hope this to be the last surgery I need for this problem and thanks again for your prayers.
Tim
