I live near the beautiful Ukrainian catholic church in Wolverhampton shown here. I have heard from local Roman Catholics that there are no less than 3 Ukrainian catholic congregations in Wolverhampton. Does anyone know anything about this?

The only Ukrainian Greek-Catholic Church I'm aware of in Wolverhampton is that served by Father Matyczak - and it is indeed a nice church. I was there once with Bishop Paul (Vasylyk) who was visiting Ukraine (he had come to England for a conference at Ampleforth about the Christians in the fast-collapsing USSR).

Incidentally, the Cathedral in Mayfair had been a Congregationalist church known as the King's Weigh House, not a Methodist church. The last Protestant pastor was Dr. Orchard, who himself became a Catholic and led most of his faithful into the Catholic Church.

Bless Father

I regret to inform you that Fr Matyczak reposed in 2001 and the parish is now served by Fr Mikail who is attached to the Kyiv Archdiocese and is currently serving the Exarchate churhes in Coventry and Wolverhampton.

Memory Eternal to Father Matyczak, who seems to have done good and solid work in Wolverhampton. Glad that they have a priest from Ukraine.
