Glory to Jesus Christ!

So pragmatism or utilitarianism is not a moral position?

I still fail to see how defining or describing something as "good" does not involve staking out a moral position.

In Christ,

Let's take President Bush out of this issue. Can we discuss what "marriage" is without it being tied to politics?

The issue is: Should same-sex marriages receive the same benefits as traditional marriages between opposite sexes?

I agree. Let's take politics out of it. Should same-sex marriages receive the same benefits as traditional marriage? No. Taking politics out of it, the benefits of traditional marriage are sacramental grace, a union blessed by the church, the gift of children, a indissoluable bond, and the moral liberty to bear false witness on certain occassions ("Oh, no honey, that dress doesn't make you look fat.")
