The actor Ricardo Montalban has died. He was 88. He was a life long Catholic who said that his Faith was the most important thing in his life. Pope John Paul II made him a Knight Commander of St. Gregory the Great.

He was best known for his role as Mr. Roarke on Fantasy Island. He also played Khan in Star Trek on TV and in the famous movie, The Wrath of Khan. (The role was spoofed very well by Dana Carvey on Saturday Night Live.)

Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him!

He also narrated documentaries about Our Lady Of Fatima and Our Lady Of Guadelupe.

He was a pretty cool guy. And ripped!

I hope I look that good when I'm 62!

This is my prayer too.. as I also pray for his surviving children and grandchildren who survive this loss. His wife of 63 years had succeeded him in death. She was Georgiana, the younger sister of Loretta Young. All were devout Catholics. When I was a child I remember first seeing him playing as leading man to Esther Williams..and he even swam with her in some scenes.

May his memory be eternal.
Que in paz descanse.

He was a parishioner of Saint Victor Roman Catholic Church in West Hollywood, CA.

My mother and I went there for Mass one Sunday and he walked in with the use of a walker. His wife Georgiana was with him.
After Mass, my mom, who was a huge fan of his, got to speak with him briefly.

Yes, he was wonderful example of a practicing Catholic in Hollywood. He was a guest on Catholic Answers Live in 1999.

Type in "Ricardo Montalban" in the box marked "Guest" and the program "Keeping the Faith in Hollywood" will show up. You can listen to it and even download it as an MP3.
